WELCOME

St. Brigid’s is a Roman Catholic Primary School, situated about two miles to the east of Manchester city centre. It was founded in 1878 to meet the needs of the once densely populated areas of Beswick and Bradford. In the early 1970s, the school was rebuilt and later amalgamated with the former St Vincent’s RC School, Openshaw. It was extensively modernised in 1998 and is now at the heart of a comprehensive regeneration programme for East Manchester.

St Brigid’s now serves the needs of today’s Catholic community in St Anne & St Brigid RC Parish, and the school enjoys modern facilities. It has been recognised as a Beacon School, a Leading Aspect School and has achieved many national awards in a range of areas.

Undoubtedly, the best way to learn about the school is to see it in operation as a living, fruitful and happy Catholic community, based on firm discipline, respect and the pursuit of excellence, so please do arrange a visit to look around.

We all very much look forward to welcoming you.....
