January 2020 letter to Parents/Carers

Dear Families,

I hope this letter finds you well and safe and I hope you all had a truly lovely Christmas. We understand and share your disappointment that we were not able to welcome all our lovely children back to school. We are missing you already!

Home Learning

You should all have your google classroom log ins and passwords. Thank you to all those who have already posted. If you have any problems, please get in touch- we are here to help. We will be sending out guidance for parents to support you plan your child/ren’s learning at home. It is an national expectation that all children complete a minimum of 3 hours learning a day.

Free School Meals

Families whose children are entitled to free school meals (note-not universal) will receive a weekly lunch box delivered to you by school for the foreseeable future. If this changes, we will let you know.

Key workers

We are here to provide childcare support for key workers and we sent out a text on Monday for you to contact us if you need our support. If you haven’t been in touch with us yet, let me explain what you need to. Firstly, ring school to let us know that you’re a key worker if you have not yet done so. Secondly, please provide school with the evidence we ask you for. You will then receive a letter confirming our school offer. Once this has been given, please fill in and submit the key worker weekly request form which you will find on the school website in For Parents/ Coronavirus information for parents/ key worker request form. This must be filled in by Friday midday (for the week ahead). This is so we can make all the necessary arrangements and update risk assessments.

What else do you need to do if it has been agreed that your child can come to school?

All parents who child/ren has received a school offer, will need to complete and submit the Parent Disclosure Agreement each Friday for the week ahead. Without this, children will not be allowed to come onto the school premises, so please make sure you fill it in every Friday for the week ahead. You will find this on our website in For Parents/ Coronavirus information for parents/ Parent Disclosure agreement form.

Please note, for health and safety reasons, only children will be allowed on the premises if it has been agreed that they can come to school.

Well- being

We understand that this is a difficult time for everyone. We want you to know we are still here. We might not be able to come into your homes and have a natter and a cup of tea, but we are still here and we will strive to do what we can to help you.

Further Support

We aim to keep in touch with all our children and families as much as we can. Please be patient with us. All teachers are teaching face-to-face as well as planning, delivering and responding to children accessing home learning.

We understand that families may be experiencing hard times in other ways eg financial. Whilst we cannot give families money, we can provide some food for those families and help you to access support from other services, so please speak to us.

Safety

The daily numbers of positive Covid 19 tests have doubled in the last week and continue to rise. With the new variant being between 50-70% more contagious, it is more important than ever that we all follow the national lockdown rules. Remember we love you and that you are precious. We want you to stay safe and well, so that when schools are able to fully open we can welcome you all back safely.

And until we meet again, may the Lord bless you and keep you safe and hold you carefully in the palm of his hand.

Yours in good faith,

Mrs Miles
