    Good Friday 10th April 2020.

    Dear Children and families,

I just wanted you to know how much the school team and I are thinking of you and praying for you. We hope you are all well and safe and are following the governments instructions: Stay home. Save lives.  Protect the NHS.

At this time of year, we would have been thinking about holy week and preparing for Easter. We would be planning family get togethers and celebrations, but this year we need to show we love each other by staying away from each other. I, like you, will miss being with my family this Easter, especially my mum and dad who are 86 and 88 years of age. They won’t thank me for sharing their ages with you! I guess the real lesson we can take away from this is that there are many ways to love and to show we love one another and right now the way is staying away.

Jesus taught us how to truly love and we have now all been given the opportunity to really reflect on this during these challenging times. These times we find ourselves in, also bring home to each and every one of us that life is sacred and precious and we must do everything in our power to protect life.

I know that you like us, will keep in our thoughts and prayers all those who have died and their families who are grieving, and we will all keep in our prayers all those who are poorly and vulnerable.

As I am sure you will be aware, school is still open for key worker children mainly. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the school team for all their hard work and commitment who have enabled school to remain open for those who really need it. Over the Easter period, school will be closed Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday (13th, 14th 15th April). If you have any queries, you may ring on one of the following school mobiles between 9am and 3pm whilst school is shut:

    0793473779607716759091/ 07745217318

Please note that if your query can wait until Thursday 16th April to do so and ring the school office number: 0161 223 5538.

During Easter, you may wish to have access to mass, prayer and reflection. St Catherine’s of Siena in Didsbury has a youtube link on its website: https://www.st-catherines-didsbury.co.uk

You will find that they have all the holy week services and Easter services and they also have the weekly Sunday masses. I must admit that I have been guilty for taking church and mass for granted in the past and I can’t believe how much I miss it now.

I wish you all a safe and happy Easter. And remember, as Pope Francis said, “The creativity of love can overcome isolation.”

We think about you all everyday. We pray for you and we love you very much. I look forward to us all being back together again- safe and well.

    God bless you,

    Mrs Miles
